About Wallsend Kinship Carers

We began as a small group in 2015 to give mutual support to one another. We originally met fortnightly, but since the pandemic this has become weekly. Since our inception, we have become more active and provided entertainment and activities for our children during the school holidays.

We operate in Wallsend, which is a lower-socio-economic town in North East of England, and it seems of the 250,000 Kinship families in the UK, there are four times more Kinship families here than any other part of the UK, outside of London. There never has been an explanation for this statistic. But it does emphasise why our organisation is so important.
